Major fire at fabric processing unit in Bhiwandi

THANE: A major fire broke out at a fabric processing unit at Ajanta Compound in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi in the district this afternoon, police said.

"A massive fire broke out at a fabric sizing company located at Dhamankar naka around 1.45 pm today," a police officer from Bhiwandi said. "The blaze has spread through the entire complex of the unit. Fire engines from Bhiwandi, Thane, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar have been rushed to the scene.

Water tankers have also been roped in," the officer added. Personnel of Bhoiwada police station and fire brigade are engaged in the firefighting and rescue operation. So far, no casualty has been reported, the police officer said.
