BHOPAL: In a huge relief to cricket fans in Madhya Pradesh, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) unsealed Indore's Holkar Stadium, which will host three IPL matches between April 8 and 20.

With the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) paying the outstanding property tax dues worth Rs 29 lakh to the IMC on Friday, the IMC unsealed the two cabins of MPCA office (including the CEO's cabin) and the two entry and exit gates of the stadium.

"The MPCA paid Rs 29.10 lakh as property tax dues on Friday, after which the seals put by our team were removed," IMC deputy commissioner (revenue) PS Solanki told New Indian Express.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon, the IMC team led by Solanki had sealed a significant part of the Holkar stadium after a survey by IMC tax officials revealed that the MPCA had not paid the tax for 1.61 lkh sq ft of cricket turf.

Owing to this development, the MPCA preparations for hosting of the three IPL 2017 matches had suffered a rude jolt.

The Holkar Stadium will now host the Rising Supergiants Pune on April 8, Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 10 and Mumbai Indians on April 20.

The premier cricket league is returning to Indore after a gap of six years as the stadium had hosted two IPL matches in 2011.
