MUMBAI: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has given a call for a new nation-wide stir for the Jan Lokpal. The stir will begin at Delhi on 23 March 2018.

Anna Hazare had been consulting his co-workers across the nation for past several months, and the date has been finalised through the churning, sources close to Hazare said at his village RaleganSiddhi in Ahmednagar district on Wednesday.

"23 March is the martyr's day. That is the reason why most of the associates of the agitation have favoured 23rd March over February. Now we have started negotiations with the government regarding the venue of the agitation," Hazare said while intreating with media.

"Our preference would be for Ramleela Maidan, Jantar-Mantar or the Shaheed Park," he added.

Hazare had been pressing for implementation of Jan Lokpal. He has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times about it. However he didn't receive any response from the PMO and hence he has now decided to go in for a fresh agitation, said his close aids.

Hazare recently toured Odisha to create awareness about the fresh stir and he is expected to undertake nation-wide tours for the same purpose, sources close to him have said.
