J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti asks DGP to set up special team to probe hair chopping cases

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today directed the Director General of Police to constitute a special team to probe the mysterious hair snipping incidents reported in the state.

"The chief minister directed the DGP to constitute a special team to identify and bring to justice those behind the mysterious hair chopping incidents which came to the fore in Kulgam district and other places in the state," an official said.

Mehbooba asked the DGP to expedite the probe in such cases which have caused panic among young girls and their parents, he said.

Several incidents of chopping of hair braids were reported in remote areas of Kulgam district and the Chenab Valley recently.
