SUPAUL: Congress secretary and party in charge for Bihar Rajesh Lilothia today asserted that 'No grand alliance at the national level is possible without his party', regional parties will also have to come forward and join hands with Congress for the formation of alliance.

Amid efforts being made to cobble together a grand alliance at the national level to stop BJP's victory chariot in 2019 Lok Sabha election, Mr Lilothia told media here late last evening that Congress is a larger party and so regional parties will have to take initiative and join hands with Congress to form a formidable grand alliance to stop BJP led NDA from returning to power in the next Lok Sabha election.

He said that Congress is not a party of any particular religion but it is also a fact that welfare of Muslims is in the list of its priorities and it is not a crime in doing so.

He said RSS people were bent on defaming Congress president Rahul Gandhi through media.

Congress leader said that his party had erred by not identifying the 'communal face' of Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar.

He said it is the reason Mr Kumar revived his relationship with BJP by walking out from the grand alliance.

"My party will not join hands with him at any stage in future,"he remarked.
