CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday hinted that the AIADMK is unlikely to support the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led government.

The Andhra Pradesh TDP government on Wednesday moved the no-confidence motion over special category status issue to the state.

When asked about his stand on the no-confidence motion to be held tomorrow in the Lok Sabha, Palaniswami said that no party had backed Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery Water issue.

"We have not brought this (no-confidence motion). It is Andhra's issue. You see, we struggled for our demands of Cauvery Water Management Board for 22 days in Parliament. It was our issue. We stalled the proceedings of Parliament. Who came to us? Which state came forward and helped us? So, it is brought by them (TDP). Every state has the right to do this. So, they are doing this," he said.

On the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament on Wednesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepted TDP's no-confidence motion and scheduled it for discussion on Friday.
