Maharashtra: Two Dalit kids thrashed, paraded naked for swimming in village well

In the video that went viral, the two boys can be seen covering themselves with leaves as the two men beat them up.

MUMBAI: Two people from Jalgaon have been arrested for stripping and thrashing two Dalit kids for swimming in a well.

Ishwar Joshi and Prahlad Lothar were arrested late on Wednesday night for the incident that took place on Sunday morning at Wakdi village in Jalgaon district, police said.

Police said the two men have been arrested under Prevention of Atrocities Act and also Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

According to the police report, the two boys had gone for swimming in the well in Ishwar Joshi's farm. Enraged by this, Joshi and his friend Lothar stripped them naked and thrashed them with a pipe and a stick. They also shot a video clip of the incident and shared it over the social media.

Reacting to the incident, Minister of State for Home Deepak Kesarkar said that the government is acting with complete seriousness in the case.
