HYDERABAD: The Delhi police on Monday issued notices to as many as six Congress leaders including Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for allegedly circulating a morphed video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on providing reservations.

The notices were served under Section 91 of the CrPC and an explanation was sought by May 1. The morphed video stated that the BJP would scrap reservations.

However, BJP leaders already made it clear that the party is not against reservations but opposed them on a religious basis. RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat, who is in Hyderabad on Sunday, said that his outfit wanted reservations to continue as long as they are required.

As the Chief Minister was busy in election campaign in Sadem in Karnataka, the Delhi police reportedly mailed the notices to him.

Several Congress leaders tweeted the 'morphed' videos and claimed that the BJP is against reservations. Congress leaders including Chief Minister and PCC president A Revanth Reddy also alleged in election meetings that the BJP and RSS were trying to scrap reservations.

"The BJP and the RSS declared a final war against the Constitution to scrap reservations to SC, ST and OBCs," Revanth Reddy said in an election meeting recently.

However, addressing an election meeting in Zaheerabad segment recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said they would scrap Muslim reservation in the state and provide reservations to SC, ST and OBCs.

Reacting to the Delhi police notices, Revanth Reddy said Amit Shah was sending notices to leaders who are fighting against the BJP in the country. "Amit Shah sent notices to me and Gandhi Bhavan for questioning the BJP on social media," Revanth Reddy said in Sadem.
