Six die in two separate road mishaps in Odisha's Cuttack

Low visibility because of fog is likely to have caused the accident, police said.

CUTTACK: At least six persons died in two separate road accidents in Odisha's Cuttack district on Saturday. Sources said, four persons, who were returning from a wedding reception died when the car they were travelling in from Khajuripada to Badamba met with an accident at Gadadharpur village under Tigiria police station at about 2.30 am.

The driver of the car lost control of the steering following which the vehicle had turned turtle into roadside cultivated land after hitting the wall of a house. All the four passengers, who got trapped inside the badly mangled car, died on the spot.

The deceased are Tilu Parida (28) of Talaputa, Tapan Rout (28) of Khajuripada, Rama Chandra Swain (45) of Harirajpur in Banki and Dillip Mohanty (46) of Chandi Mangal in Badamba locality.

In another incident, two bike riders died after a Cuttack bound private bus coming from opposite direction collided head-on with their vehicle on Cuttack-Chandbali state highway near Janhia under Salipur police limits.

After the collision, the bus had rolled down to a farmland. Fortuneatle, all the passengers of the bus are reportedly safe. The body of the deceased Subas Singh of Tarapur in Jagatsinghpur and Biswajit Panda of Khorda have been sent for post-mortem. The accident took place due to dense fog leading to low visibility in the morning.
