NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested seven criminals associated with the gang of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi after a multistate operation and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

The arrests come days after the sensational murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai on October 12.

Officials said that the seven arrests were made from Punjab and other states.

It is suspected that they were planning to target someone in Rajasthan on the direction of Arzoo Bishnoi, a close confidant of Lawrence Bishnoi, said an officer.

He said the accused are being further interrogated and it will also be probed if they are in any manner linked to the attack on Baba Siddique.

“During continuing surveillance on several gangsters and their active modules, an input was received about a suspect, Ritesh, as being an active criminal of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang,” police said.

Based on Ritesh’s revelations, more raids were held, leading to the other arrests.
