NEW DELHI: Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday held talks with senior officials of the Department of School Education and Literacy to discuss multiple issues related to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), including its examination processes.
In a post on X, Joshi said, “The meeting reviewed the key priorities for strengthening CBSE’s academic, examination and administrative processes.” The focus was on greater efficiency, transparency and improved support for students and teachers, he added.
The CBSE exam results announced this year ended up in a major controversy due to the digital on-screen marking system adopted to review answer sheets. Multiple issues were reported by students including lesser marks than expected, missing pages as well as unreadable scans of answer sheets. This caused a major leadership overhaul.
UGC meet
The Minister later also held a virtual meeting with officials of the Universtiy Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education to discuss the priorities of higher education and the way forward for strengthening cademic institutions.
The discussion also covered Khelo Bharat, with a focus on promoting sports in educational institutions, encouraging wider student participation and nurturing sporting talent among our youth.
