Tremors felt across Delhi-NCR as 4.9-magnitude quake hits Uttarakhand's Chamoli

NCS said the quake’s epicentre was in Chamoli at a depth of 13 km. The earthquake struck at 10:23 pm.

Tremors were felt in Delhi and adjoining areas late Tuesday after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The NCS, the nodal government agency that monitors earthquake activity in the country, said the epicentre was located in Chamoli at a depth of 13 km. The earthquake struck at 10:23 pm.

Earlier on Tuesday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 struck Assam’s Nagaon district, according to the NCS. The quake occurred at 4:23:47 am IST at a depth of 33 km.

The epicentre was located at latitude 26.428°N and longitude 93.060°E, the NCS said in a post on X.

On October 5, an earthquake of magnitude 2.5 jolted Himachal Pradesh’s Una late on Sunday night, according to the NCS.

The NCS said the tremors were recorded at 11:48:35 pm IST on October 4. The epicentre was located at latitude 31.618°N and longitude 76.301°E, at a depth of 9 km.

“EQ of M: 2.5, On: 04/10/2026 23:48:35 IST, Lat: 31.618 N, Long: 76.301 E, Depth: 9 Km, Location: Una, Himachal Pradesh,” the NCS said in a post on X.
