Actress will be paired opposite Chetan in PC Shekar’s period drama; she is keen on trying new roles

PC Shekar, who was on a break for his wedding, is back to work. He is preparing for his next, a period drama set in British India, and is nearly done with its pre-production work.

City Express had earlier reported that the filmmakers are casting Chetan as the lead, and that the actor has been spending a lot of time preparing for his role. Now we hear that the director is on the verge of finalising the movie’s heroine and has appraoched Rachita Ram for the role. The actress, reportedly, has agreed to be part of the project after hearing the narration.

Our source says that the actress is keen on doing roles that are different from her earlier picks. “Currently one of the top heroines in Sandalwood, Rachita does not want to be typecast as a commercial heroine,” says our source. “She now wants to do some challenging roles and plans to approach her characters in a different way. She had therefore waited before chosing her next after Bharjari, and she felt that Shekar’s period drama would definitely be a new challenge for her. That is one of the reasons why she has accepted this film.”

If all goes according to plan, she will sign on the dotted line and after that the team will make an official announcement. Details of the movie, including the names of producers, will be revealed after that. This will be Rachita’s first attempt at a period drama and the first time she will be paired opposite Chetan.
Meanwhile, Rachita is waiting for Bharjari’s release. The film directed by Chetan Kumar starring Dhruva Sarja is now in the final stages of post-production work.
