SHIVAMOGGA: Obstacles were cleared to repair the Agumbe Ghat road and construct a protection wall along 2.5 km of the section coming under the Shivamogga sub-division. PWD started the work on Thursday and it will continue for the next one month.

The Forest Department has objected to road widening,  but PWD has found a solution. Instead of widening the road, it has decided to repair the road and construct protection walls, most of which were damaged, along the curves. The district administration has prohibited movement of vehicles on the road till December 30.
PWD superintendent engineer Balakrishna said the contractor was given 30 days time to finish the work. “It is expected to be complete in 15 days,” he said.
