SHAHAPUR : An 18-month-old baby girl was found dead in a well at Budihal village of Shahapur taluk in Yadgir.
People suspect she was kidnapped and sacrificed by some unknown people. The deceased has been identified as Amrut, daughter of Basayya Swamy. Police sources said parents of the girl were sleeping in their house on Monday night when the incident happened.

Police say some people may have entered the house, kidnapped the girl and locked the doors of the house before performing black magic. As part of the sacrifice, they may have thrown the baby in a well and fled from the spot, they added.

When Amrut’s parents woke up in the morning, they found that their daughter was missing and they were locked up. When they started shouting for help, some neighbours came and helped them. When family members and the neighbours started looking for the girl, they found the body in a  nearby well. There were indications of black magic having been performed in front of Basayya Swamy’s house such as lemon dipped in kumkum and other items.Yadgir SP Vinayak Patil who visited Budihal told Express that a team led by the Yadgir DSP was formed to investigate the incident.
