TU leader  P V Krishnan cremated 

The body of trade union (TU)  leader and CITU state committee member P V Krishnan aka Krishnettan, 89, who breathed his last at the AKG Hospital here on Monday, was cremated at Mayyil here on Tuesday.

KANNUR: The body of trade union (TU)  leader and CITU state committee member P V Krishnan aka Krishnettan, 89, who breathed his last at the AKG Hospital here on Monday, was cremated at Mayyil here on Tuesday. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer for the past six months. 


Thousands of people, including CPM district secretary P Jayarajan, CITU state secretary K P Sahadevan and others, bid adieu to their favourite leader at the CPM district committee office. The body was later taken to the CPM area committee office at Mayyil and then to his ancestral house at Kandakai. 


A populist TU leader, Krishnan had served as the general secretary of Kannur Motor Transport Employees Union, the district secretary of the CITU, the general secretary of the Bus Transport Workers Federation and various other posts. He is survived by two daughters and two sons.
