PATHANAMTHITTA:Paddy harvest festival at Aranmula puncha, which went barren due to the filling of the streams for the now-defunct Aranmula airport project, was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister V S Sunil Kumar on Monday.

Sunil Kumar, along with PWD Minister G Sudhakaran carried out ceremonial cutting of paddy spikes at Punnackad in Aranmula puncha.
“The government was able to increase paddy cultivation to three lakh hectares of land from the 1.92 lakh hectares at the time of it coming to power,” the minister said during his inaugural speech. He said the government would initiate measures to bring all the barren paddy fields under paddy cultivation with the overall objective of boosting production.
G Sudhakaran released the logo for ‘Aranmula Rice’ brand at the function. Veena George MLA presided over the function.
