KOCHI:The High Court on Monday observed it was crystal clear political interest was not a reason for the Sreejith’s arrest.Dismissing the petition seeking a CBI probe in the case, the court observed there was not even a remote suggestion Sreejith was an activist or even a sympathiser of a political party, the interests of which were opposed to that of CPM.

Akhila, wife of deceased Sreejith, had emphatically stated Sreejith was not even a sympathiser of a political party as suggested from certain corners. The court stated his arrest was not motivated by any political interests.

If political interest was not involved in his arrest, it was improbable there was a conspiracy involving the district police chief and political leaders to falsely implicate Sreejith and arrest him.Wife of the deceased did not dispute the prosecution version in the case, the court said. She did not dispute the identity of the civil police officers who apprehended Sreejith and the fact they along with the SI assaulted him.
