KOCHI: The parishioners of St George Church, Thalayolaparambu, scripted history by copying the entire Bible in a record time of one hour and 12 minutes. As many as 790 members of the parish copied the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, comprising 73 books. They have eclipsed the existing ‘Universal Record Forum’ (URF) feat of copying the Bible in one hour and 34 minutes by 1,264 people.

“It was the result of a long period of prayer and preparation. The mega event gave the younger generation an opportunity to learn more about the Bible. It was copied in own handwriting by people belonging to 10-75 age group,” said Fr John Puthuva, vicar of the church.

According to Fr Puthuva, the youngsters and children participated in the programme with a lot of enthusiasm.

Universal Record Forum chief editor Sunil Joseph, record winners and representatives of URF V T Jolly and Amal Eby Joseph, URF Kerala reporter Lijo George and Shiny Joseph were the observers of the mega event. Fr Jiju Valiyakandathil, Joseph Mannarkandam, George Navamkulangara, Antony Kalambukadan, Sebastian K J and Catechism teachers of the church oversaw the event.
