KOCHI: The Centre on Thursday submitted before the Kerala High Court the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a probe into a financial deal involving the construction company which has Ann Mary, wife of ADGP Tomin Thachankary, as the majority shareholder. The Centre filed the statement in response to a petition by  K Manikandan, of Kanyakumari, seeking a directive to the Director of the Enforcement Directorate to act on the letter sent by the Chief Secretary seeking an inquiry into the financial deal.
The Assistant Solicitor General of India submitted the Enforcement Directorate had called for documents from the registrar of the company and was examining these documents.

According to the petitioner, his wife and he had entered into an agreement with APG Developers, Thammanam, in Ernakulam district, for the sale of a property for `6.5 crore. Ann Mary held 80 per cent shares in the company engaged in real estate development. He said it was Thachankary who had conducted negotiations on the sale of his property at Kanyakumari. After paying `2.5 crore, Thachankary insisted on executing the sale deed in favour of the company and asked him to forgo the balance amount, the petitioner said. He alleged Thachankary had threatened him and wife.

His wife had lodged a complaint with the then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy against the harassment.
The petitioner also said he was falsely implicated in the Paravur and Varapuzha rape cases at the behest of  Thachankary. He said the state government had in 2015 written to the Director of the Enforcement Directorate seeking a probe into the financial deal. In the letter, the then Chief Secretary had suggested a detailed probe into the financial deal be conducted by the Income Tax Department/Enforcement Directorate or another appropriate agency of the Central Government.
