NEW DELHI: You will find delicious sushi rolls and somtam salads basically all over Japan, on almost every street corner, but locating the same here can be a task.

Japanese and Thai cuisines are something that is not commonly available in our country. Maybe because Indian taste buds find them too bland or too sweet.

But now, you can satisfy the cravings for such Pan-Asian cuisines by heading towards The Kylin, a place that not only provides authentic dishes, but also blends them according to Indian taste palates.

Sous-Chef Pankaj Gautam said, “Along with serving all the varieties available in the Japanese cuisine, we also make our guests acquaintance with the Teppanyaki style of cooking, in which iron griddles are used to cook food.”

Meanwhile, Rakesh Thakur, who is the manager of the restaurant, said, “The USP of our restaurant is Teppanyaki and live sushi. This concept is not very common in the city so people find it very interesting to get something different. Though a lot of time they try to get it changed according to their spicy palates, but we prefer sticking to our authenticity."

During a food review, The Kylin gave us a short trip to Japan with its interior and presentation.

The food journey started with Somtam Salad, which was a perfect blend of raw papaya, sweet chilli sauce, peanuts and garlic. The salad was complimented by Miso soup that was more of a palate cleanser. The main ingredients of  the soup were Miso paste, spring onions and tofu.

Next came in Uramaki Sushi, commonly known as salmon sushi along with Crunchy Tuna Roll accompanied with Sake. The bite size of both the dishes was huge and filling. And the chef explaining the perfect way of having a sushi roll gave a Japanese kick.

On the next turn of the journey, we met dim sums. Served in a lot of varieties they had perfect amount of filling. Next came in Teriyaki chicken that was filled with the sweetness and bitterness of soy sauce along with baby corn and sesame seeds.

It was then followed by Thai Green Curry that was a perfect creamy blend with a strong flavour of coconut and basil and Mapo Tofu and caramelized prawns.

The delicious tummy relishing journey ended with a small shot of Jasmine tea.

So the next time when you crave for some oriental cuisine, head to the Kylin.
