ASTHMA is a common disease whose morbidity and mortality are rapidly increasing. In the recent past asthma is found to be common among young children between the age group 3 to 18 years also. Asthma is a chronic disease of the lungs, whereby, the airways become inflamed leading to difficulty in breathing. The airways (known as Bronchi) of an asthma patient, is  sensitive to certain substances like dust, pollen, animal fur, cold air, smoke, irritant fumes etc. These substances trigger irritation in the bronchi causing narrowing and increase in sticky mucous production. There is yet another psychological allergen or rather emotional trigger for asthma. It very much does, and can worsen the condition of the patient as a whole. Panic disorders are common in asthma , panic can cause hyperventilation, and bronchoconstriction. At present most of the diseases and conditions are caused due to stress and tension, asthma is not any different. Hence asthma is turning out to be a psychosomatic disorder as well.  For example: children who have lost one of their parents go into depression and in the course of time develop asthma. Suppression of anger can cause breathlessness. This usually occurs in students who fear that they will fail the exams, or who have not slept for days or anxious about the results etc  (post traumatic stress disorder) and this results in a mental trauma and fear. Homeopathy is one system of medicine which analyses the patients psychology and physiology to arrive at a remedy for the patient .

Since asthma is also a hereditary disorder, parents with such history should start taking special care for their children, during the exam period, by giving them adequate mental support and proper diet. Is asthma curable? Well yes ,we definitely can. Homeopathic medicines have done wonders in treating asthmatic individuals. Children who have been taking long run steroidal puffs can also be brought back to normal life with homeopathic medicines. Asthmatic patients should never opt for medicines that offers quick relief.
