'Traditional medicines developed for diabetes, lymphatic filariasis'

NEW DELHI: The centres of tradition medicine system - CCRAS, CCRUM, CCRS - have developed drugs for various health issues such as fibroid uterus, lymphatic filariasis and diabetes mellitus, parliament was informed on Tuesday.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said that traditional medicines have also been developed for mosquito-borne diseases like dengue.

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Science (CCRAS) has developed medicines like Rasayan A & B for geriatric health, AYUSH-A for Bronchial Asthma, AYUSH-D for Diabetes Mellitus, C1 oil for wound healing and AYUSH-SL for Lymphatic Filariasis among others, said Naik.

Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) has developed D5 chooranam for diabetes mellitus, Rasagandhi mezhugu for Fibroid uterus, and Sirupeelaiyathi Kudineer in Kalladaippu (Urolithiasis).
