Renji Panicker has given his everything to play a wrestler in Basil Joseph’s Godha. He piled on extra pounds and altered his diet because, according to the actor, not always does such characters happen.

“It is an exciting role. I play a wrestler and as an actor, I am always willing to invest my time and energy if the character convinces me. Godha impressed me and it is an interesting project,” he says.

Godha will hit the  screens on March 19.  The actor says he piled on an extra five kilos for the role.

“I worked out to look the part. I had been following a diet for sometime but for Godha I restricted it,” says Renji Panicker who has a busy schedule today.

“In fact, I invented my career as an actor through Om Santhi Oshana. By 2008, I had taken a career break and was focusing on journalism.

Acting in  movies never interested me not even when I was writing them. But, post Om Santhi Oshana, I have discovered the actor in me,” he added.

Scripting Lelam 2
His career as an actor might be going great guns, but Renji Panicker is also finding time to write. He is busy penning the sequel to superhit Suresh Gopi-starrer Lelam, which is likely to go on the floors by next year.

“The scripting is in primary stages. I am working on it. We plan to start the shoot by 2018,” he says.

Lelam 2 will be directed by Renji Panicker’s son Nithin Renji Panicker. He had made his debut with Mammootty-starrer Kasaba.
