TINSUKIA-DIBRUGARH: A huge quantity of weapons, including 27 AK series, M-22 and Chinese rifles, belonging to the ULFA was recovered by the police in upper Assam's Tinsukia district.
The recovery also included 400 live ammunition of AK-47 assault rifles and 117 empty cartridges, Dibrugarh superintendent of police Anurag Agarwala told reporters in Dibrugarh.
The weapons along with the ammunition were kept hidden by the banned underground outfit inside a rice granary, police sources in Tinsukia said.
On a tip off, police from Dibrugarh district along with their counterpart from neighbouring Tinsukia launched a joint operation yesterday at Boholram village in Kukurmara Sadiya in Tinsukia district, Agarwala said.
A villager Bhadreswar Gogoi was arrested in this connection, he said.
