Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day today after condoling the deaths of sitting BJP MP Dilip Singh Judeo and six naval personnel killed in the Sindhurakshak submarine tragedy.

As soon as the House met for the day, Speaker Meira Kumar informed members of the sad demise of Judeo, 64, on August 14.

Judeo was MP from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He also served as a Minister of State for Environment and Forest in 2003 in the NDA government.

Judeo was a member of the ninth Lok Sabha as well and had served as member of Rajya Sabha for three consecutive terms from 1992 to 2009.

The House also condoled the death of 18 naval personnel who died in the submarine tragedy at the naval Mumbai dockyard on August 13. "Eighteen naval personnel, including three officers, were on board. Six of them are confirmed dead.

Rescue operations are still on," the Speaker said.

Members stood in silence as a mark of respect for the departed.

The Speaker then adjourned the House for the day.
