Kaptan Singh Solanki Appointed New Haryana Governor

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee Friday appointed senior BJP leader Kaptan Singh Solanki as the next governor of Haryana, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said here.

Solanki will replace Jagannath Pahadia whose term as governor ends July 26.

"The President is pleased to appoint Kaptan Singh Solanki, to be the governor of Haryana with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office vice Jagannath Pahadia, who completes his tenure on July 26," the communique said.

A Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Madhya Pradesh, Solanki is presently a Rajya Sabha member.
