Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met newly-married Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma and congratulated the couple.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met newly-married Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma and congratulated the couple.

Along with the couple, Kohli's brother Vikas was also present during the meet.

The couple will be hosting a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on December 21, 2017, which will be followed by a reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on December 26, 2017.

Virat and Anushka tied the knot at a picturesque location in Italy's Tuscany on December 11.

Soon after the wedding, Virat and Anushka announced in a joint statement, "Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share this wonderful news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey."
