Police sources revealed that coming to know about the double murder of Udayan's parents was the last nail in the coffin of Akansha's relationship.

KOLKATA: Triple murder accused Udayan Das on Wednesday confessed at Bankura district court that he had killed his live-in partner Akansha Sharma in Bhopal. His confidential statement under Section 164 of CrPC would be recorded before third judicial magistrate Sangita Chatterjee on Thursday. The plea of Raipur police for transit remand of Udayan Das would also be heard the same day. After court hearing, Udayan was sent to one day judicial custody.

Bankura court witnessed high drama on Wednesday when Udayan contradicted his own lawyer Arup Banerjee when the defence attorney attempted to prove to Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Arup Kumar Nandi that Udayan was innocent and his live-in partner Akansha Sharma had committed suicide. Udayan stopped him midway and said that he had killed Akansha Sharma alias Shweta in Bhopal. To this, both the lawyer and the judge were taken aback. He also refused to seek bail after confessing his crime in the court.

Udayan also appealed that his entire property that includes his Bhopal house, mother's jewelleries and father's fixed deposit be taken care of by creating a trust in Akansha's name and Bankura Police be made the trustee.

Meanwhile, Akansha's family alleged that Udayan is doing these 'gimmicks' to avoid the noose and get life imprisonment instead for the three murders that he had committed.

"He knows that he will face the music. To avoid death sentence, he is trying to pretend that he is reformed now. All the Akansha trust drama and confessing crime in court is part of this fake guilt show that he is putting up," Akansha's brother Ayush said.

Meanwhile, Bankura police has claimed that Akansha was killed as she came to know that Udayan had murdered his parents. "Akansha stumbled upon fake passports of Udayan's parents and fake death certificate of his mother while browsing his cupboard on June 29 last year. When confronted, Udayan confessed that he had murdered his parents. However, fearing that she might spill the beans, Udayan killed her," Bankura Superintendent of Police Sukhendu Hira said.

Police sources revealed that coming to know about the double murder of Udayan's parents was the last nail in the coffin of Akansha's relationship with her social media friend-turned-live-in partner. Akansha had realised that she was duped by Udayan and the promise for job in the United Nations would never materialise. Accordingly, Akansha had booked a ticket to return home on July 23. However, she was murdered on July 14.
