NEW DELHI: Controversial RJD politician Shahabuddin was on Sunday morning brought to Delhi by train and has been lodged in Tihar prisons.
A police team from Bihar Police brought Shahabuddin from Siwan jail of the order from the Supreme Court by Sampoorna Kranti Express which reached here around 8 am.
Soon after he was brought to Tihar jail, he was medically examined and then shifted him to jail number 2 where other gangsters like Chhota Rajan are also kept, said Director General of Tihar Jail Sudhir Yadav.
Tight arrangements including CCTV camera monitoring and watch by Tamil Nadu Special Police Force personnel has been put in place to ensure an uneventful stay of Shahabuddin in Tihar jail, officials said.
The Supreme Court had on February 15 ordered shifting of Mohammad Shahabuddin, now facing trial in 45 criminal cases, from Siwan Jail in Bihar to Tihar Jail here within a week.
The order came on the pleas by Siwan-based Chandrakeshwar Prasad, whose three sons were killed in two separate incidents, and Asha Ranjan, the wife of scribe Rajdeo Ranjan who was murdered in Siwan, seeking the shifting of the RJD leader.
As per the directions of the Supreme Court no special privilege was extended to Shahabuddin while he was brought to New Delhi from Patna in the second class sleeper coach of the Sampoorna Kranti Express.
