Willing to act as interlocutor between govt and Naxals: Sri Sri Ravishankar

RAIPUR: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of ‘Art of Living’, exhorted the outlawed CPI (Maoist) to desist from using violence as a means of struggle and join mainstream society.

He said that the rebels nurture fire in their hearts and stand up for justice to get rid of poverty from society.

But the spiritual leader stated that he didn’t support the Maoists who believe in violence.

“Maoists should shun bullets for the ballot. If given an opportunity I am ready to act as interlocutor between the government and the Naxalites for peace talks,” he said during his visit to the restive district of Bijapur in south Bastar. 

Stressing the need for peace and non-violence, Sri Sri urged the youths associated with the left-wing extremism to adopt the path of spirituality that can pave the way to get rid of violence. 

Later, in Raipur Sri Sri held an hour-long session with Chhattisgarh legislators and officials on the premises of the Vidhan Sabha and promoted Sudarshan
