NEW DELHI: The Opposition on Thursday raised the issue of the ongoing actions against illegal abattoirs and the anti-Romeo squads in Uttar Pradesh. The Opposition claimed that a particular caste and a community are being targeted by the UP government led by the chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh assured the House that the government would look into any specific instance if brought forth by the members.

The Congress MP Ranjeeta Ranjan, while raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, said that youth in UP are being harassed and humiliated by the arbitrary actions of the anti-Romeo squads constituted by the new government in UP. She also stated that the actions against abattoirs in the state are also aimed at a particular community.

“The youth are being harassed and humiliated by the anti-Romeo squads. There is a particular caste, which is being targeted by the state government. A particular community is also being targeted by the UP government,” Ranjan said, who was supported by other Opposition MPs.

The Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh, while intervening, reminded the House that the newly elected chief minister of the state has promised an inclusive government on the basis of the Sabka saath, Sabka vikas plank. “The chief minister in his first press conference has said that his government will not discriminate against any caste, creed or community. If the members bring to my notice any specific instance, my government will look into it,” Singh assured the House.
