GUWAHATI: An ex-rifleman who went missing 40 years ago from Manipur, has been traced to the streets of Mumbai, courtesy YouTube. Khomdram Gambhir Singh, now 70, served in the Manipur Rifles. After disappearing from his hometown four decades ago, Singh now ekes out a living by singing songs on Mumbai streets. “One fine day he left home and never returned,” said Khomdram Kulachandra, Singh’s younger brother.
Singh’s whereabouts came to light after a Mumbai photographer uploaded a video of him singing a Hindi song on YouTube. The man was identified after the video was circulated on social media. Kulachandra will leave for Mumbai on Tuesday to bring his long-lost brother home. He will be accompanied by a couple of officers from Manipur police. “We hope to reunite Singh with his family in two to three days. We are coordinating with Mumbai police,” Imphal West district Senior Superintendent of Police Themthing Ngashangva told The New Indian Express.
