JAIPUR: Even as Alwar in Rajasthan still remains tense over the lynching Rakbar Khan, a fresh row erupted in Govindgrah town of the district over alleged recovery of beef.

As per police, 40 kg of beef was found at a family’s home in Ambedkar Nagar area. Three women were arrested on Monday. The main accused, one Shakeel and his friend, managed to flee before police reached the house.

Dara Singh, SHO of Govindgarh Police Station, said, “The women were found packing the meat for selling purpose.

A case has been registered under Section 358 of the Rajasthan Bovine Act. About 40 kg beef and cow hide were recovered from the spot. The sample has been sent for testing.”

As the news of the incident spread, tension gripped the area and the local markets were shut down after protests started by Right-wing outfits.

In a related note, the Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission (RSHRC) has sought a report from the state government over the death of a 28-year-old man in Alwar district after he was allegedly thrashed by a mob on the suspicion cow-smuggling.

The National Human Rights Commission sent a notice to the Rajasthan government over the death of Akbar alias Rakbar Khan.

On July 21, Rakbar and his friend Aslam were taking cows to their villages in Haryana through a forest area in Ramgarh area of Alwar, where a group of people allegedly accosted them.
