NEW DELHI: The BJP on Thursday rejected the Congress charges of the ruling NDA alliance politicising the surgical strikes against terror camps in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked the Congress to clarify if the Opposition party believed that the surgical strike video was fake.
Claiming that the Congress claim of the surgical strikes were meant for votes, Prasad quipped that the remark of the Opposition party would only gladden hearts of terrorists and their sponsor across the border. The minister also sought to know which state is in the midst of elections that the ruling party would seek votes in the name of surgical strikes. The BJP leader also reminded that the Congress president Rahul Gandhi had stated in the aftermath of the surgical strike that it was "khoon ki dalali".
Prasad was reacting to comments of the Congress leaders on the social media space where they suggested that the release of the surgical strike videos were aimed to soar up the perception for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Seeking to draw a comparison with the purported remark of the leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad that more civilians were getting killed than terrorists in the Kashmir valley, the Union Minister asked if the Congress leaders were getting so desperate that they would question the morale of the Armed forces. Incidentally, the surgical strikes were conducted on September 29, 2016 in the backdrop of the Udhampur terror attack.
