PANAJI: A Congress functionary today filed a police complaint against BJP Goa chief Vinay Tendulkar for allegedly threatening the Congress' Goa unit president Girish Chodankar.
The complainant, Congress' Panaji block president Prasad Amonkar, alleged that Tendulkar, while delivering a speech during the BJP's "Black Day" protest against the imposition of Emergency, had said that Chodankar would be attacked in a manner similar to that of late Shantaram Naik.
Naik, who died on June 9 this year after suffering a heart attack, was once attacked by a mob outside the state Legislative Assembly.
Amonkar, in his police complaint, stated that the BJPs national general secretary Murlidhar Rao, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, North Goa MP Shripad Naik were present on the dais when Tendulkar allegedly made the threat during his speech on June 26.
He also submitted recordings of the speech, made by various media outlets, along with his complaint.
While Tendulkar was unavailable for comment, Panaji police inspector Siddhanth Shirodkar said the complaint was being examined.
