LUCKNOW: Claiming that people of India were hurt by the recent spurt in terror activities in the country, BSP chief Mayawati said on Sunday that it seemed to be trying times when no way forward was visible. However, in the same vein, the BSP chief charged Modi government of hiding behind tension on the Indo-Pak border and drawing its political mileage.
“PM Modi is whipping up the issue of air strikes to hide his failures of last four years,” said the BSP chief.
Addressing party office-bearers and leaders at a hurriedly called meeting in the state capital, the BSP leader said it was not hidden from the people how miserably the Central government led by Modi had
failed in providing good governance and in addressing problems the country had been facing. She exhorted her party workers to fan out and inform people on how the airstrikes were being “misused” by the ruling party to bolster its political interests at a time when elections were round the corner.
At the meeting, called for stock-taking the party’s preparedness ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the four-time UP Chief Minister said that leaders and workers of both the BSP and the Samajwadi Party (SP), with which it had an alliance for the general elections, should be alert about such machinations of the BJP.
Flanked by her nephew Akash Anand and party national general secretary and RS member SC Mishra, Mayawati is also learnt to have taken feedback from party workers about her alliance with one-time arch-rival SP and imparted some victory tips to her cadre and zonal coordinators of her party in Lucknow.
