BJB review over, NAAC team to visit Utkal today

BHUBANESWAR: A three-member peer team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) concluded its three-day visit to BJB Autonomous College on Friday.
The team comprising former VC of BR Ambedkar University AK Singh, Director of Commerce of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga Prof BBL Dash and former principal of PCJ Science College, Karnataka Vishwanath Hiremath had arrived in the college on Monday for assessment of teaching standard and facilities of students for issuance of NAAC reaccreditation.

The NAAC grade of A+ of the college had expired in 2009 and the institution had applied for reaccredition this year. After a presentation by college principal Md Nawaj Hasan on various developments and students’ achievements, the team members went round the laboratories, academic departments and sports facilities besides interacting with students, faculty members and volunteers of NSS and NCC. They expressed satisfaction over the overall standard of education and co-curricular activities in the college. A decision on the grade will be taken within a month.

The NAAC team will visit Utkal University campus on Thursday to review its infrastructure facilities and education standard.The NAAC accreditation of the university had elapsed more than five years back. NAAC accreditation is necessary for higher education institutions to get funds and recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Matric test: Online form fill-up date extended
Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha on Wednesday extended the last date of online form fill-up for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination to be held from February 28 next year.  The last date of online form fill-up for the examination has been extended to November 19 and with fine to November 24. The BSE had earlier fixed November 16 as the last date. Though the BSE is yet to clarify the exact reason behind extension of the dates, sources said the move came in the wake of demonetisation of high value currency notes for which students are facing difficulties in submitting the examination fees.
