BHUBANESWAR: The long standing demand for creation of Ahir (Yadav) regiment in the Indian Army has been ignored by the Centre. The Yadavs need to strengthen their organisation at the grassroots to fight for the rights of OBCs and creation of a separate regiment, Lok Sabha member Nityananda Ray Yadav said.

Addressing the concluding session of All India Youth Yadav Mahasabha (AIYYM) here on Sunday, Yadav said it was high time youths of the community came forward and placed their demands before the Central Government.

Minister for Women and Child Development, Backward Classes and Minorities, Madhya Pradesh Lalita Yadav spoke about the past of Yaduvanshis and made an assessment of the current challenges and opportunities before the community.
General secretary, Utkal Yadav Mahasabha Pradip Behera said though Yadavs comprise 14 to 16 percent of the State’s population, they are not getting a proportionate political representation.
