MCL officer, CMPF clerk in CBI net

A 10-member CBI team on Wednesday nabbed a senior manager of Jagannath Colliery of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and a senior clerk of Coal Mines Provident Fund (CMPF) for demanding bribe.

TALCHER/BHUBANESWAR:A 10-member CBI team on Wednesday nabbed a senior manager of Jagannath Colliery of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and a senior clerk of Coal Mines Provident Fund (CMPF) for demanding bribe. In both the cases, the complainant was a private contractor.

Senior Manager (Finance) of MCL Santosh Kumar Satpathy had allegedly demanded `5,000 from the complainant to clear some pending bills. He was arrested red-handed. CBI sleuths also arrested an upper division clerk with the CMPF Jay Krishna Sahu who had demanded `5,000 from the complainant to hand over the CMPF account number and account book.
 CBI sleuths are searching the office and residences of both the accused. The duo will be produced before a CBI Special Judge in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
