THREE members of a family died and two others sustained serious injuries following an attack by a swarm of bees in Thuamul Rampur block of Kalahandi district on Saturday.

BHAWANIPATNA:THREE members of a family died and two others sustained serious injuries following an attack by a swarm of bees in Thuamul Rampur block of Kalahandi district on Saturday.

The incident occurred in a forest near Tevakalam village under Sindhipadar gram panchayat of the block when the family members were guarding their paddy crops raised by them using shifting cultivation. Suddenly, the  bees attacked them and they could not find any shelter to save themselves. As a result, a woman, identified as Bahadi Parabhoi (60), and her two grand- daughters, Sumitra and Samitha, died. Her son Sombaru and daughter-in-law Patmati have been admitted in Thuamul Rampur Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition. Their condition was improving, doctors said.
