NABARANGPUR: Gold ornaments and other valuables were stolen from Sri Jagannath Temple in the town here on Monday night. On being informed, SP Bibekananda Sharma along with ASP Ganeswar Sethi and other police officials rushed to the temple on Tuesday morning.

On inspecting the CCTV footage, it was revealed that a masked man entered the Laxmi temple situated on Jagannath Temple premises and broke the lock of main entrance. Then he broke into the sanctum sanctorum and looted the ornament of the goddess.

The culprit also entered a store room of the main temple before decamping with more ornaments and valuables. Efforts are on to nab the thief, police said.
