CHENNAI: Kreishh Gurbaxani of Maharashtra stunned former World and Asian billiards champion Rupesh Shah of PSPB by defeating him 4-2 in the Phoenix Serene Spaces 7th national 6 red snooker tournament. Multiple-time national champion Alok Kumar of PSPB won his first match by defeating L Nagaraj of Karnataka 4-0. Rupesh started the match well by winning the first frame, but Kreishh retaliated strongly by dominating the next two frames with good safety play to lead 2-1. Although Rupesh levelled it to 2-2, Kreishh upped the  tempo and won the next two consecutive frames to clinch the match in style.
