Kolkata, Dec 20 (PTI) The UK-based Association ofChartered Certified Accounts (ACCA) is eyeing the finance andaccountancy (F&A) academic stream in India for bridging skillgaps.

A not-for-profit organisation, ACCA was set up in 1904by a Royal Charter in the UK by which it imparts training inF&A across 180 countries including India.

"We are aiming to bridge the skill gaps in accountancyand finance in India to make the academia industry-ready," MdSajid Khan, head of international development of ACCA said.

He said ACCA had tied up with several prominent Indianeducational institutes like Christ University, Symbiosis, StJoseph's College of Commerce, Loyola College and others forproviding F&A courses to the students.

As compared to the Institute of Chartered Accountantsof India (ICAI), ACCA professionals are not allowed to carryout statutory audits or set up audit firms in the country.

Khan said many top Indian corporates like ITC arehiring ACCA professionals at "decent salaries".

The ACCA course could be accessed by Indian studentsonline, he added. PTI DCJM.
