Beijing, Oct 31 (AP) A Chinese official says his countrystill wants to cooperate with the US on climate change andhopes an upcoming meeting on the issue in Germany will producea draft agreement on implementing the Paris climate accord.
China's Special Representative on Climate Change XieZhenhua told reporters today that China wanted to boost jointefforts in clean energy, carbon capture and research.
After President Donald Trump withdrew the US from theParis accord in June, China swiftly recommitted itself to thenon-binding agreement.
The US will continue to participate in internationalmeetings and negotiations on current and future climate changedeals. The next meeting is in Bonn next month.
China is by far the world's largest user of coal and isthe No 1 emitter of climate-changing greenhouse gases. (AP)MRJ.
