Top seeds V Haribalu (Cognizant Technology Solutions) and P Bala Kannamma (Velammal School) emerged champions respectively in the open and girls’ sections of the Jawahar Engineering College -15th Tamil Nadu State Under-25 chess championship at the Hall of Chess in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. While Haribalu remained undefeated with 8 points, Kannamma tallied eight points to secure the trophies here on Wednesday.

Tenneti Venugopal Rao trophy for the best game was awarded to Tamil Nadu State Sub-Junior champion S Rohit Vassan of Vellore. JCD Prabhakar, president of the All India Chess Federation gave away the prizes.

B Karthik’s 87 helped Fine Star CA to beat Pattabiram CA by 46 runs in a first division match of the TNCA-Thiruvallur DCA league here recently.
