Somdev Now Bows Out of Citi Open Qualifiers

WASHINGTON: Somdev Devvarman's poor singles run continued as he was knocked out of the first round of men's singles Qualifiers of the ATP Citi Open, here.

Somdev lost his opening round 2-6 7-5 2-6 to Darian King in the USD 1,753,020 hard court event.

Somdev had recently won a Challenger event in Winnetka, USA but has been struggling to go beyond qualifiers or first and second rounds on the ATP World Tour.

India's challenge is still alive in the tournament as Rohan Bopanna is competing in the doubles event with Romanian partner Florin Mergea.

They have been seeded third and open their campaign against Briton Andy Murray and Canada's Daniel Nestor.
