BENGALURU: Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble on Tuesday expressed solidarity with the country’s top wrestlers who have been staging protests alleging sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation of India president and MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, and demanding his arrest. Taking to Twitter, Kumble said he was dismayed at the manhandling of the protesters by Delhi Police. “Dismayed to hear about what transpired on the 28th of May with our wrestlers being manhandled.
Anything can be resolved through proper dialogue. Hoping for a resolution at the earliest,” he tweeted. Retweeting it, Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh Kumble’s remarked, “I salute you.” Abhilash Prabhakaran, who organised a recent protest in Bengaluru, said cricketers’ words carry a lot of weight in India. He was glad that Kumble has spoken up in support of the wrestlers. Former sports journalist Joseph Hoover said, “We need more sports and film personalities to extend their support.”
