CHENNAI: The pay dispute between Cricket Australia (CA) and Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) is snowballing into a big fight. Mitchell Starc on Twitter hinted at a players’ strike for the Ashes in November. David Warner, too, has indicated the same.
The CA has warned players they won’t get alternative contracts if they fail to agree to the new collective bargaining agreement. The players’ body rejected the offer saying it was “a win for cricket administrators but a loss for cricket”.

Former Australia player Dav Whatmore believes confrontation is not the way out. “One thing I do know is that CA thinks very deeply before making decisions.
They would have also read the player’s association’s view. I read comments from Mark Taylor, who is a very balanced person, and he said the revised model was not that different from the one proposed by the players. So I feel the best way is sit and talk and see the way forward,” said the noted coach.
