CHENNAI: iDream Karaikudi Kaalai pulled off an extraordinary win in a heart-stopping thriller against Ruby Trichy Warriors to register their third consecutive win in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), in Tirunelveli on Friday.

The match went to the last over as Karaikudi needed three runs to win, with the last pair batting at the crease. Needing one run from the last two balls, Vijaykumar Yo Mahesh seized the game with a single off the penultimate ball.

After bundling out Trichy for 114, Karaikudi started with V Aditya (19 off 18) and Srikkanth Anirudha (41 off 28) scoring briskly. Rest of Karaikudi’s batting faltered as Trichy fought bravely. Suresh Kumar bowled an outstanding spell of 3/12.

Earlier, batting first, Trichy lost opener K Bharath Shankar in the second over. Captain Baba Indrajith 3(7) was stumped in the very next over off S Kishan Kumar.
